BoxHouse Featured on KUTV:

A Smarter Approach to Housing in Utah

BoxHouse was recently featured in a KUTV news story highlighting the growing affordability crisis in housing—and how our team is working to change that. With average home prices soaring past half a million dollars, we believe it’s time to rethink how homes are built and delivered.

As a Utah-based housing innovator, BoxHouse has developed a series of compact, modern homes starting under $100,000—some priced as low as $80,000. Our mission is to reimagine the homebuilding process, offering attainable, high-quality living spaces without the traditional price tag.

Each BoxHouse model is designed with thoughtful layouts ranging from 380 square feet and up. They come fully equipped with full-size appliances, including washers, dryers, and refrigerators—proving that smart design can maximize comfort and functionality, even in a smaller footprint.

“People hear the square footage and think it’s too small—but everything you need is there,” said Jeff Staples, President and COO of BoxHouse, in his interview with KUTV.

Our homes are built through a hybrid process, with components outsourced and assembled domestically. Once delivered, they can be set up and move-in ready in as little as one to two days—offering a practical path toward homeownership for many who’ve been priced out of the market.

Of course, the journey isn’t without its challenges. Zoning regulations remain one of the biggest hurdles, especially in Utah, where many municipalities are still determining how to classify homes like ours. Despite thousands of eager buyers on our waitlist, outdated zoning codes are slowing the pace of progress.

We’re also working with financial institutions to help modernize lending practices. As demand grows, we’re optimistic that banks will begin adapting to new housing models that offer long-term affordability.

We appreciate KUTV for shedding light on this important topic and inviting us to share our story. You can view the full article and video coverage on KUTV’s website for more details.
